Because people who abuse the system believe they are part of the 99%.
Examples:
- If you think you should be making the same or more amount of money as your boss without the responsibility and effort
- If you're demanding for more social benefits (i.e. welfare) despite being capable of working
- If you think you are hard-working but use Facebook, play games, gossip, or are in general, grossly inefficient while on the clock
- If you max out your credit cards for non-neccessary things and then complain that your wages are too low
- If you proclaim that the job market is garbage but don't take any jobs that are available to you
- If you believe everything is somehow stacked against you (i.e. discrimination) even when it is not the case
- If you think those who are more 'successful' than you are only cheaters and scoundrels
- If you wish everyone was accountable but hold yourself unaccountable for your actions (i.e. blaming others for your situation)
- If you act like an asshole at work then complain that people act like assholes to you when you're the client/customer
- If you think you're the best and everyone else is incompetent regardless of the lack of effort and responsibility you put in
If any of those apply to you, you are NOT part of the 99%. In fact, the 99% is probably a smaller figure as there is probably a subset of that percentage that isn't part of either group. Such as criminals, abusers, freeloaders, etc.
